Benjamin Franklin was born in boston on january 17, 1706. He was the tenth son of soap maker, Josiah Franklin. Benjamin’s mother was Abiah Folger, the second spouse of Josiah. In all, Josiah would father 17 kids.
In 1733 he started publishing Poor Richard’s Almanack. Almanacs of the era were written annually, and contained things like weather reports, recipes, predictions and homilies. Franklin printed his almanac under the pretense of a person named Richard Saunders, a have-not who required cash to take care of his carping spouse. What distinguished Franklin’s almanac were his humourous aphorisms and spirited writing. several of the celebrated phrases related to Franklin, such as, “A penny saved is a penny earned” return from Poor Richard.
