Hormasji Dinshaw Kanga was an expert and his excellent cricket career spanned from 1899 to 1921. As an opening batsman, he holds the record of being the primary Indian to get a double century in first-class cricket.
In 1948, a committee was shaped underneath the chairmanship of Justice S R Tendulkar who advised an inter-club tournament in Mumbai.
This was named after Hormasji, known as ‘Kanga League’. Kanga League continues to be being compete each year without an opportunity ever since.
There is Dr H D Kanga Memorial Library, the only sports library of its kind in the world, was named after him, and the Mumbai Cricket Association has been managing it efficiently for the last 55 years.
