The 15th-century poet, Surdas was a poet far-famed for writing over 100,000 songs in devotion to Krishna! Of his varied patrons, the foremost celebrated was Mughal Emperor Akbar. because he was born blind, he received harsh treatment from his family.
At the age of 6, he detected a bunch of devotional singers passing by his home and he merely followed them, beginning his journey.

धोखैं ही धोखैं डहकायौ।
समुझी न परी विषय रस गीध्यौ, हरि हीरा घर मांझ गंवायौं॥
क्यौं कुरंग जल देखि अवनि कौ, प्यास न गई, दसौं दिसि धायौ।
जनम-जनम बहु करम किये हैं, तिन में आपुन आपु बंधायौ॥
ज्यौं सुक सैमर -फल आसा लगि निसिबासर हठि चित्त लगायौ।
रीतो पर्यौ जबै फल चाख्यौ, उड़ि गयो तूल, तांबरो आयौ॥
ज्यौं कपि डोरि बांधि बाजीगर कन-कन कों चौहटें नचायौ।
सूरदास, भगवंत भजन बिनु काल ब्याल पै आपु खवायौ॥
