TV Sundaram Iyengar, was the visionary who started the biggest two-wheeler company in India at the time, TVS. He set the inspiration for the motor transport trade in South Republic of India when he started a Public Transportation Company within the town of Madurai in 1912. The bus service that is considered as Madras Presidency’s first ever public transport service from Pudukottai to Thanjavur.
By his death in 1955, his company operated variety of buses and lorries beneath the title of Southern Roadways Ltd. Throughout the Second world war, he designed and created a gas plant due to petrol shortages. His firm Madras auto Services was the biggest distributor of General Motors in 1950s.
What started off as a transport and automobile company. Today, TVS group deals in diverse fields like automotive component manufacturing, automotive dealerships, finance, electronics and IT Solutions and Services.
